University of Windsor/University of British Columbia and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Pacific Biological Station, Nanaimo BC, Canada
We seek applications for two openings in invasion biology. These positions are at the PhD level. The projects are part of the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Network (CAISN) research program funded by NSERC to examine vectors and pathways delivering aquatic invasive species (AIS) to Canadian waters and to identify key factors that affect their successful establishment. Successful candidates will focus on either intertidal or subtidal habitats in coastal Canadian waters, including commercial ports and marinas.
The ideal candidates will have experience in invertebrate taxonomy and be familiar with standard methods for identification and enumeration of live and fixed organisms. Experience in experimental design and analysis of benthic communities would be preferable. Initial support will be for three years, pending satisfactory performance, with the possibility of further extension by collaborating on future research proposals/projects.
To apply, please send a curriculum vitae, thesis abstract and/or representative publications and contact information for three academic references to Dr. Thomas Therriault, Pacific Biological Station, Nanaimo, BC V9T 6N7, Canada, e-mail address: therriaultt@pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca.
More information about CAISN can be found at http://www.uwindsor.ca/CAISN.
Review of applications starts on December 4, 2006 and will continue until the positions are filled. Preferred starting date is April/May 2007, or as negotiated.
