MSc position in Invasive Diatom Biology

Mount Allison University and Fisheries and Oceans Canada New Brunswick, Canada

We seek applications for an opening in invasive diatom biology. This position is at the MSc level. The projects are part of the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Network (CAISN) research program funded by NSERC to examine vectors and pathways delivering aquatic invasive species (AIS) to Canadian waters and to identify key factors that affect their successful establishment. Successful candidates will focus on diatoms.

The ideal candidates will have experience in diatom taxonomy and be familiar with standard methods for diatom identification and enumeration of live and fixed cells. Initial support will be for one year, with continuation pending satisfactory performance, with the possibility of further extension by collaborating on future research proposals, including international programs.
