Post-doctoral Research in Marine Microbial Ecology

A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated individual to work on the broad field of aquatic microbial ecology. This postdoc will be expected to develop an independent research program that compliments the research interest of mine, which includes: 1) the trophic interaction of microbial food web, 2) the population dynamics, phylogenetic diversity and biogeochemical function of picoplankton (including virus, prokaryotes and eukaryotes), and 3) the coastal environmental issues, such as HAB and hypoxia. Skills in traditional and modern techniques, such as advanced microscopy, flow cytometry, genomic, proteomic and biochemical analyses, are desirable. Applicants must have an excellent record of publication, strong quantitative skills, and be comfortable leading a team of undergraduate and graduate researchers. The initial appointment is for one year with a monthly salary up to 26K Hong Kong dollars (~3350 US dollars). Extension is possible provided satisfactory progress. The position is available immediately, and consideration of applications will continue until the position is filled.
